MTVU: Free internet TV
mtvU (formerly College Television Network or CTN) is a division of MTV Networks which broadcasts a 24-hour television channel that is available on more than 750 college and university campuses across the United States. A Viacom-owned channel, mtvU both provides an alternative to standard music television for college students, and gives advertisers and music promotion companies access to college-age viewers, a valuable but traditionally difficult-to-reach demographic group. At universities to which mtvU gains access, TV monitors are often set up in student centers and fitness centers, as well as in dorm lounges and common areas; students can also access mtvU through closed circuit cable. CTN originally began as a venture that installed video jukeboxes at these locations.

9Live
German participation TV channel and launched on September 1, 2001. It originated from a channel called tm3. Most of its programming is lottery and quiz games, in which the viewer can participate over the phone. An English version also broadcast in the UK in late 2004 and early 2005, during E4's downtime hours.
The channel finances itself mainly through money paid for the phone calls. Independently of whether the calling party will have the chance to talk to the quiz host, they will pay 50 euro cent to call from Germany or 70 cents from Austria. The former CEO, Christiane zu Salm, sees the channel as "participation TV" ("Mitmachfernsehen").
The games are legally controversial. In German law, there is the distinction between "Glücksspiel" (gambling) and "Gewinnspiel" (lottery), the latter theoretically being gambling without money being bet. Gambling is not allowed on German television. In court, 9 Live defended itself with the argument that a phone call does not cost more than sending a postcard to advertisement-financed lotteries of magazines and TV-shows, which themselves are considered a "Gewinnspiel".
The total revenue of 9Live was 60.6 million euro in the year 2002 and 78.7 million in 2003. For comparison, during broadcast the channel proudly claims to have paid out close to one million euro in November 2004 alone.
9Live also features a wide range of humorous and comical moderators. One name worth mentioning is Alida Lauenstein, winner of Big Brother Germany, who can be seen moderating from time to time.

Canal Savoir: CFTU-TV
CFTU is a Canadian French language educational television station in the province of Quebec, owned by a private consortium known as CANAL, consisting primarily of Quebec-based post-secondary institutions. CFTU currently uses the on-air brand, Canal Savoir. It is licensed to and located in the city of Montreal.
CFTU is available over-the-air on channel 29 in Montreal; on cable through much of Quebec, parts of Ontario, New Brunswick, and Western Canada; and on satellite (Bell ExpressVu channel 152 and Star Choice channel 720).

CPAC French
CPAC (English: Cable Public Affairs Channel and French: La Chaîne d'affaires publiques par câble), is a Canadian cable television specialty service devoted to coverage of public and government affairs, including carrying a full, uninterrupted feed of proceedings of the Canadian House of Commons, with two separate audio channels; one in English and the other in French. CPAC is similar to C-SPAN in the United States and the two services exchange some content.
CPAC's main purpose is the broadcast of proceedings of the House of Commons. Other programming includes meetings of House of Commons and Senate parliamentary committees, occasional Supreme Court proceedings, political conventions, conferences, committees and coverage of general elections. CPAC also airs the proceedings of certain Royal Commissions and judicial inquiries. Proceedings of the Canadian Senate are not carried as the upper house has yet to agree to allow its sessions to be televised. On 25 April 2006, The Hon. Hugh Segal moved that the Senate of Canada televise its proceedings; the motion has since been referred to the Senate Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament for consideration.
Broadcasts on CPAC are in both English and French. In 2003, at the behest of the CRTC, CPAC and its carriers started to allow television viewers to choose which language they hear the service in, putting the feed of one language on the service's main audio channel and the feed of the other language on its SAP channel. CPAC has also offered a "floor" feed, i.e. a feed that does not carry any simultaneous translation, although due to the changes noted above it may not remain in use over cable or satellite television.
A choice between the floor feed, English and French feeds are, however, offered on CPAC's free Internet video stream available on their website. Selected events and programs are also podcast.

TVA en direct
TVA is a Canadian French language privately owned television network.
TVA is based in Quebec and only has affiliates in Quebec, although the affiliates in Rivière-du-Loup and Carleton have rebroadcast transmitters in New Brunswick. Also, the affiliate in Gatineau is part of the Ottawa television market. Since 1998, it has been available on cable across Canada. It is widely considered to be the French counterpart of CTV. In fact, its logo is similar to CTV's, although the two networks have never been jointly owned. TVA is presently owned by Groupe TVA Inc. (TSX: TVA), a publicly-traded subsidiary of Quebecor Média.
TVA is short for Téléviseurs associés or Télédiffuseurs associés, depending on the source (both can be roughly translated to "Associated Telecasters"). The name reflects TVA's roots as a cooperative network owned by its affiliates. However, only the initials are used on-air.

Expo Channel
Expo Channel is a home shopping channel available primarily through pay television in Australia, but also through domestic FTA in some areas.
It airs as a programming block on regional television stations Prime Television and Golden West Network between 2am and 5am, and 24 hours a day on its own channel on Foxtel, Austar and Optus Television. It also airs on Digital Forty Four in Sydney. Expo Channel also shows a live broadcast on their website.
Programming is either a mix of products from different companies, or a lengthy promotion for one product. Companies who use Expo Channel include Dell, Danoz Direct, Lifeglo, Timelife, Biomagnetic, Laurastar, Global Shop Direct, Proactiv and Priceline.
For one year in the late 1990s, Expo broadcast the finals of the National Soccer League, as a production partner of the channel Zer01Zer0 was a fan and no other media outlet wanted the rights. Expo also broadcast Aerobics Oz Style around this time.
Expo Channel's main compeditor is TVSN, which operates in a similar fashion. Both Channels are owned by the Direct Group, which also operates the Innovations Catalogue business

BigPond Music TV
BigPond is Australia's largest Internet Service Provider and is Telstra's brand name for consumer broadband services including ADSL and ADSL2+, cable, dialup, satellite and wireless broadband (EV-DO and HSDPA). All BigPond's connections are via the main Telstra Internet backbone. For businesses, Telstra Business Broadband provides services such as frame relay, SDH, ADSL/SDSL and permanent dialup services instead of BigPond.
BigPond also provides major content channels including BigPond Sport (with V8 Supercars, AFL, NRL and BigPond Racing), BigPond Movies (an online movie download and DVD-by-mail rental service), BigPond Games with GameArena and GameNow, BigPond Music (an online music store, from which customers can download music in an encrypted WMA format that uses DRM) and BigPond TV, an online viewer for BigPond's video content. In February 2006, BigPond commenced webcasting of Sydney Symphony performances, both live and 'on demand'.

ACC TV
Australian Christian Channel (ACC) is a religious channel featured on subscription-based television in Australia. ACC is on Foxtel, Austar, Optus and TransACT. ACC is available on digital television in Sydney on the Digital Forty Four service. It can also be viewed online at their website.
ACC has a strategic partnership with Shine TV in New Zealand by working together to establish a broadcast service center in Australia that provides programming for both ministries.
The Australian Christian Channel is a non-profit organization. Any proceeds in addition to expenses go to fostering new programs, conducting support services or community welfare programs.
ACC does not sell air time - programs are broadcast at no cost. The provision of finance is not a consideration in determining which programs will go to air on ACC. Programs are selected on merit and their potential placement within the schedule.

Television Shopping Network (TVSN) is a home shopping channel broadcast on pay television in Australia. It has operated since 1995.
It airs 24 hours a day on Foxtel, Austar and Optus Television. It also airs a live broadcast on their website. Presenters include Carla King Turner, Di Turner, Geoff Cowan, Karen Ledbury, Malvadee McIver, Marnie Meredith, Nikki Racco and Tim Stackpool.
TVSN's main competitor is Expo Channel, which operates in a similar fashion as TVSN.
In 2004, TVSN was acquired by Innovations. Up until the end of 2006, The Channel rans its Call Centre, Head Office and Studio Operations from Lane Cove in Sydney. It is now based in Frenchs Forest alongside it owner Innovations.
Danoz Direct a company that sells products through infomercials on TV and its website and EXPO Channel were all owned by TVSN Pty/Ltd. However, once the acquisition with Innovations was complete, only TVSN and EXPO joined the Innovations company.

GIGA TV
GIGA is a brand name for several German television shows. It was "born" in 1998. They offer information about games, celebrities, popular music, world news, etc. The show uses the internet so that viewers (there were 1,091,203 members in January 2006) interact with the producers.
GIGA 1 is being broadcasted via the European satellite system SES Astra, this insures that this television station can be seen all over Europe (which is, of course, mostly relevant for German-speaking countries like Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Liechtenstein).
Since March 2006, GIGA and GIGA Real has been canceled, while all shows about gaming, GIGA Games and GIGA eSports, remain as a subsidiary of Turtle Entertainment, owner of the ESL.
